Mr. Mathew Cherian (Chairman)
 
Mr. Mathew Cherian is the Chairperson of the Board of Credibility Alliance.  He studied engineering & rural management, and completed his B.E. (Hons) in Civil Engineering, BITS, Pilani Rajasthan & PGDRM in Rural Management, Institute of Rural Management, Anand, Gujarat. In the 1980s, he was engaged with Sagar Samrat drilling rig, Schlumberger, with ONGC. He worked in the area of rural development with cooperatives, in association with the National Dairy Development Board. He also worked as a consultant to voluntary agencies, and to the National Wastelands Development Board. His further assignments include the post of Director, Oxfam, UK and India, Programme Director, South Asia, Plan International, and Country Representative, Charities Aid Foundation. He is the Founder of Association of Third Sector Researchers in India, Resource Mobilization Network in India, Campaign for Human Rights (Dalits and Tribals), and CAF India. Presently, he is Honorary Chair of Mobile Crèches and Chief Executive of HelpAge India.
 
Ms. Sucheta Dalal (Vice-Chairperson)
 
Ms. Sucheta Dalal is a business journalist and author with over 23 years in the profession. She is a BSc. in Statistics from Karnatak College, followed up with a graduate and post graduate degree in law (LLB and LLM) from Bombay University. Ms Dalal’s journalistic career started in 1984 with Fortune India magazine and she has subsequently moved through Business Standard, The Economic Times and then went on to become Financial Editor of The Times of India and has been a columnist and consulting editor for The Indian Express group for nearly a decade. Ms Dalal takes active interest in consumer and investor related issues and has been a Member of the Investor Protection and Education Fund set up by the Government of India under the Department of Company Affairs for six years. She was also a member of the Primary Market Advisory Committee of the Securities and Exchange Board of India and is a  Trustee of the Consumer Education and Research Centre of Ahmedabad, which is among the largest consumer and investor advocacy groups in India. In 2006 she was conferred with the Padmashree for journalism, it is one of the highest civilian awards in the country. She is also a Member of Bank of Baroda’s Standing Committee on consumer services. She is now a Consulting Editor with MoneyLIFE – a personal finance fortnightly that provides unbiased information on investing and investor rights.
 
Mr. Venkat Krishnan (Treasurer)
 
Mr. Venkat Krishnan graduated from IIM Ahmedabad in 1993. In 1996, he co-founded Eklavya Education Foundation along with 3 other IIMA alumni. Venkat Krishnan worked for ‘The Times of India’ in various corporate and brand management functions until he founded GiveIndia in the year 2000 to create a "giving culture" in India by providing people with opportunities to contribute to good causes, with very high standards of transparency and accountability.
 
Ms. Rozmin Ajani
 
Rozmin Ajani is a chartered accountant and management accountant and has a fellowship with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. She is also a certified Management Auditor (completed formal training under the International Management Audit Training (IMAT) Programme in association with the London School of Economics (LSE). Rozmin Ajani has a strong track record of over 21 years in the development sector, including over nine years of executive responsibility at top management levels in leading international NGOs in India. She is auditor and consultant to National and International NGOs and Donor Agencies. Her firm focuses on audit, systems development and documentation, consultancies, financial and management advice, training and capacity building in the development sector organizations, while taking into consideration the governance and management structures of voluntary organizations.
 
Mr. Amit Chandra
 
Amit Chandra is the Managing Director of Bain Capital, a global private equity an alternative investments firm. He spent over 13 years at DSP Merrill Lynch where he was responsible for running its Global Markets & Investment Banking business and retired as the firm's MD and Member of its Board of Director. Engineer by background, he worked with Larsen & Toubro, for over three years.  He studied on a full scholarship and graduated from the VJTI engineering college in Mumbai followed by completing his MBA on a full scholarship from Boston College. Amit serves as a long standing Trustee & Board Member of the Akanksha Foundation, Give India, and Credibility Alliance.
 
Mr. B. N. Makhija, IAS (Retd.)
 
Mr. B.N. Makhija, IAS (Retd.) studied Commerce & Economics at Delhi University, Law at Mumbai University, Business Administration in USA (Hawaii), and International Business in Sweden and taught at Delhi University. He joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1964 and worked in various areas of development administration namely Rural Development, Urban Development, Welfare Administration and Public Health. He also served the Central Government in the Energy Sector and retired as Principal Advisor, Planning Commission. Post retirement, he has worked on several Government committees and commissions. Currently, he is serving on Corporate Boards and with NGOs, particularly advocacy groups and support service organizations, and is presently the advisor with Society for Service to Voluntary Agencies (SOSVA).
 
Dr. Armaity Desai
 
Dr. Armaity Desai studied social work at Mumbai University, and obtained her M.A. and Ph.D from the University of Chicago. Formerly, she was the Chairperson, University Grants Commission (1995-99), New Delhi. She has served as the Director of Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. Dr. Desai has been associated with various educational bodies. She was the President of the Asian Regional Association of Social Work Education, Vice president and Member of the Executive Board of the International Association of Schools of Social Work, Convener of the UGC Review committee for Social Work education in India, and a consultant to various UN agencies. She has written many articles on issues related to social work, social development, social work, and education. She chairs the National Consultative on Capacity Building of Women Managers in Higher Education Grants Commission, New Delhi.
 
Ms. Usha Sridhar
 
Ms. Usha Sridhar heads The Interface-project of Sarada Foundations, a non-profit trying to bridge the gap between social retail investors and the socially challenged by partnering with NGO's who are the activity partners. They are Social Investment Managers and she has developed this unique idea based on best practices in business. Ms. Sridhar, a post graduate in Commerce, was in the commercial sector as a successful Business Partner of Eureka Forbes for fifteen years, before she decided to give it up to move to the third sector. She is on the Advisory Board of the CIOSA network of NGO's in Chennai. Along with a friend she is involved in the rural transformation of a village called Thandalam near Chennai, which she continues doing. They are working with health, education, womens' empowerment, religious and environmental activities there. She has now taken on a second village called Pinayur also near Chennai.
 
Mr. George Varughese
 
Mr. George Varghese is the President, Enterprise Development, Development Alternatives. Programme Planning & Management; Institutional Design, Regional Environmental Planning; Environment Impact Assessment; Natural Resource Management; Information Systems Management; Policy Formulation; Construction Management are areas of his expertise. He has post graduated in Urban and Regional Planning, School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi.  Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering, Regional Engineering College, Rourkela. 
 
Dr. Yogesh Kumar
 
Dr. Yogesh Kumar is the head of Samarthan. Dr. Yogesh Kumar has a doctorate in Development Economics. He specializes in participatory research, Programme management and monitoring of development programmes, participatory evaluation of development programmes, and organizational reviews for strategic management and organizational development. He has vast experience in governance and institutional development. He is involved in the Wada Na Todo Abhiyan, the campaign to hold the Government accountable to its promise to end poverty and social exclusion and the National Social Watch processes.
 
Mr. S. Sen
 

Mr. S. Sen was educated in Kolkata. He started his career with Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Mr Sen has been working with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for the past 36 years, mostly in Kolkata, New Delhi and London. As Deputy Director General of CII, he is presently in charge of the CII Social Development Council, which was set up in 1985. He is also in charge of the South Asian Region in CII and, various CII National Committees such as Defence, Industrial Relations, Technical Education and Vocational Training, Public Policy, North East.

 
Mr. Jagadananda Mohanty
 
Mr. Jagadananda Mohanty has an M.A. in English Literature and a Commonwealth Diploma in Youth and Development from London. Jagadananda has been a social activist for more than twenty-five years. He is the founder and head of CYSD (Centre for Youth & Social Development) a not-for-profit, non-governmental development organization in Orissa, India. He conducted a study for CIVICUS (World Alliance for Citizen Participation) on transparency and accountability issues (2004-2005). Mr. Jagadananda is a member of the Civil Society Advisory Committee of the Commonwealth Foundation. The Commonwealth Foundation supports a broad range of regular programmes across four branches of work, which are Civil Society programmes, professional exchange programmes, arts and culture programmes, Commonwealth understanding programmes.
 
Mr. Shyamal Deb
 
Mr. Shyamal Deb has 20 years’ experience in the field of ageing care and differently abled persons. He has a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. Mr. Shyamal Deb is the Founder secretary and Honorary Chairman of All Tripura SC, ST & Minority Upliftment Council, and Honorary Area Director Special Olympic Bharat Tripura Chapter.
 
Ms. Poonam Natrajan
 
Ms. Poonam Natrajan has a PG Diploma in Special Education from the Spastics Society of India, Mumbai, and two masters degrees from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. She was the Founder and Director of Vidya Sagar (formerly Spastics Society Of India, Chennai) where she was in charge with its Administrative-Program planning and Execution and general Administration to conceptualize programs to suit all levels of disabilities and social and Economic needs. Prior, she also worked as a Special Educator with AADI (Formerly The Spastics Society of Northern India ). Currently she is the Chairperson of National Trust for Welfare of Persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation & Multiple Disabilities, (Min. of Social Justice & Empowerment). She is also on the Board of several organisations including ODA (Organisation of Development Action), CSIM (Center for Social Initiative and Management), and All India Regional Alliance on Inclusive Education.
 
Ms. Elizabeth Kurian
 
Ms. Elizabeth Kurian is the Regional Director - India Region of Sightsavers International, an international agency working to eliminate avoidable blindness and promote equality of opportunity for disabled people. As the head of Sightsavers’ largest programme country, Ms Kurian is on the Board of VISION 2020: The Right to Sight India, a key driver of the World Health Organization-International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness joint global initiative for the elimination of avoidable blindness. Prior to this, Ms Kurian was a senior executive in ORG-MARG Research Ltd (now known as The Nielsen Company) and before that, at the MS University of Baroda. A gold medallist and university first ranker at the Masters degree course in Nutrition, Ms Kurian went on to do a management programme from the UK. With over 16 years experience in the social sector, Ms Kurian’s core areas of interest include governance, strategy planning, programme development and research.
 
Dr. Bhushan Punani
 

Leaving a lucrative management career behind, Dr. Punani decided to use his skills, in his own words, “for the betterment of my fellow beings.” Dr. Punani’s ceaseless efforts to empower the visually impaired, as Executive Director, Blind People’s Association (BPA) have achieved bigger goals than the humble one he set for himself.

Today, BPA, based in Ahmedabad is considered a leading voluntary organization working for the disabled – helping them earn a livelihood, manage their money, live better and even excel in the areas they are good at. In August 2008, Dr. Punani was elected on the Credibility Alliance Governing Board as a representative of western region from the voluntary sector. Dr. Punani’s vision, domain expertise and dedication make him an asset to the Credibility Alliance Governing Board.
