| An Emerging Scenario |
|
| |
| During the last decade of the last millennium, voluntary organisations came to the centre stage of development agenda. Untiring efforts of committed individuals and the spirit of innovation were the cause for it. The ability to be responsive to the interest of the marginalised, willingness to empower them for their rights, critical visions provided to the modes of social change, etc., exemplified voluntary organisations. The main strength of voluntary organisations has been their engagement with people. It has given them a distinct identity as a principal component of the civil society. To build and enhance the trust that they have created among the public, voluntary organisations need to improve their own process of governance. |
